Thought of the Day—We use sunscreen to protect our skin from the sun. We use sunglasses to protect our eyes from the same source. We strap ourselves into our cars to protect against an impending accident and strap our children in devices for the same reason; even though it takes the owner’s manual to figure out how to get them back out again. We buy guns and alarm systems to protect our homes and families from potential intruders. But how do we guard our own hearts and minds from harm? Simply put, we need to safeguard our minds against triggers that could cause us harm. It could be something as simple as a television show, movies or perhaps the type of material you read. It could also be the types of folks you hang around with. We need to pray for discernment and wisdom concerning our journey and what we ingest from the world. People can be just as toxic and dangerous as any poison or street drug. They don’t necessarily have your best interest in mind and won’t stand beside you when you fall. In fact, many times they will use their tongue as a sharp knife to slice away at your reputation and character. Keep your eyes open and guard your heart!
