Thought of the Day–3/15/18

Thought of the Day—Somewhere along the way, we have lost something very valuable…faith…in God, in our fellow man, in ourselves.  The faith to know what is right and stand up for it, the faith to believe without seeing, to trust that a promise is honored by ones’ word.  We have replaced faith with fear…fear of the unknown, fear of political uncertainty, fear of being without, fear of being alone and rejected, fear of the inevitable…death.  And so we walk around blindly accepting anything that comes along including barefaced lies dressed in polished professionals offering alternative news, alternative integrity, and embellished truths.  Don’t you think it is past time to reverse this trend?  Let’s pray for a discerning heart, open eyes, discriminating ears and a disciplined tongue to sort through this blatant deception versus truth.  Fear drives a wedge between different races, creeds, and cultures.  Faith says we can get through anything together.  Fear won’t get you past your own front door but faith will take you to places you’ve never imagined…Today, may your faith become bigger than your fear…

Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore; those who are loyal have vanished from the human race. Everyone lies to their neighbor; they flatter with their lips but harbor deception in their hearts.  May the Lord silence all flattering lips and every boastful tongue—Psalm 12:1-3 (NIV)

Thought of the Day–3/13/18

Thought of the Day—“If I had it to do all over again…” I’m sure we’ve either said or heard that statement before; it is the anthem of regret. It could be a past regret about anything from kids, marriage, education, drugs to a career choice.  But guess what? You can’t change it; it’s in your past locked behind thick stone walls and a mighty mahogany door.  And while you may find a twisted comfort in your painful memories of past regret and remorse, it’s time to let it go and forgive.  Forgive yourself, forgive the others that were involved in the situation.  Stop trying to mentally rewrite the script; just do a one eighty and step away…You deserve more in your present and future than a regurgitated past…

Thought of the Day–3/12/18

Footprints

Thought of the Day—I love sitting on a deserted beach, just staring out at the horizon, for it pretty much puts life in perspective.  The relentless sea breeze tosses the hair and pulls at your clothing while the rhythmic cadence of the surf licking at the shoreline fills the senses.  It is liberating, intoxicating and at the same time humbling.  For it is at that very moment in time, regardless of your position or wealth or status on this earth, you are simply a human, a larger speck on this endless sandy shore; the creature, enjoying all that the Creator has created.  And when I leave this place, the encroaching surf erases all traces of my existence, including my footprints…as if I was never there…But know this; you WERE created for a reason, unique, one of a kind and for this particular time and place.  Isn’t it time you begin living the life God intended you to live? For He loves you like no other…can you say the same?

Thought of the Day–3/10/18

Thought of the Day—Any old horse can bolt out of the gate and run away from its’ master, but it takes a calm and disciplined steed to remain steadfast even in the time of conflict.  So it is with the tongue; don’t just let it run away from you but use your disciplined mind to rein it in! Otherwise, you just might end up stepping in something you’d rather not…

Thought of the Day–3/9/18

Thought of the Day—Congratulations! If you are reading this, it means that God has granted you another day; the blank page sitting before you represents YOUR day. Let’s make sure today’s page is filled with a smile on your face and a song in your heart, fun filled adventures, prayers and praise, your best foot forward as opposed to two steps back. For this could be just another of many pages added to your life journal or the last page flipped.  That is why it is so important that we make every moment count. Today will be the memories made that we and/or our loved ones reflect upon tomorrow…

Thought of the Day–3/8/18

Thought of the Day—I wonder what would happen if we tried to spend more time with God and less time spent on making more friends and likes on one of the social networking sites?  As important as friends are, friends and followers WILL come and go; we can’t afford to have a nonchalant prayer life and we can’t tweet our way to Heaven…Can I get a Like and Share? (just kidding…)

Thought of the Day–3/7/18

Thought of the Day—Did you know there is a huge difference between the words childish and childlike?  Sure, all the characteristics of those two words are incorporated into the life and personality of a child but in an adult, the contrast is striking.  To be childish as an adult has everything to do with self and nothing to do with responsibility; it’s an “I want” mentality that has far reaching consequences.  To be childlike, however, is to embrace being an adult in addition to having a keen sense of wonderment of life and trust in others, of having an unwavering faith.  It sometimes comes down to loving life as opposed to just living life.  How about you? Are you walking around, disgruntled with life because it’s not going your way or are you caught up in the magic of ordinary days?

Thought of the Day–3/6/18

Thought of the Day—Do you want to have some fun today? Pick up a rock and throw it!  I don’t mean in a literal sense like at a passerby or your neighbor’s cat but into the placid pond of humanity called your circle of influence.  You know how, when a stone is tossed into a tranquil pond, the ripples start from the point of entry and keep edging outward?  That stone represents an act of kindness delivered to another; we never really know how much that one act has the same ripple effect to positively influence the lives of others.  That stone could represent the gift of time, a prayer lifted up, a card sent, a phone call made, picking up someone’s tab or simply giving a hug to someone you know is going through something difficult right now.  I think you get the idea.  And better yet, pick up a few pebbles at one time, toss them in and watch what happens…ripples in a pond…love in action…pick up a rock and toss it…today!

Thought of the Day–3/5/18

Thought of the Day—Virtually anything can be used for either good or evil.  A simple large stone, when used in conjunction with many others, can build a magnificent castle but it can also be used to crush a man’s skull.  An ordinary rifle can be used to hunt for much needed food but can also be used to end a person’s life.  And the internet can be used to retrieve huge amounts of useful information but can also be a tool through social media to degrade and bully others.  Even the tongue can build up or destroy another’s self-esteem.  We as humans have a great responsibility at our disposal; let’s strive to become great builders instead of negligent destroyers…
